For me, the benefit was the chat box that keeps an accurate log that won’t disappear when you leave or join a game and voice chat feature that comes with steam, which has a push to talk option also. This provides an alternate video option when you do the video test for D2, and doesn’t change Steam, so it won’t mess up the overlay with any other games. I’ve used this method to get the overlay working with D2 on my laptop and friends.
